Renal (Kidney) Disease in Pets

Renal (Kidney) disease is considered a leading killer of the pet population.
All too often kidney disease goes undiagnosed until the damage becomes
overwhelming, allowing for irreparable damage to occur without any visible
signs of illness.

The Barkley Animal Clinic and Hospital has several
methods of testing available, ranging from simple urinalysis examinations, to
extensive lab testing, to detect kidney damage earlier than ever before.

Early detection of disease gives us a better opportunity to identify the
cause and treat the disease. Although, the cause of Kidney disease cannot
always be completely identified, diet changes, and drug therapy can help manage
the disease and significantly slow it's progression.
