Barkley Animal Clinic and Hospital
Luis Leyva
Luis was born to Reverend Javier and Elizabeth Leyva, November 16, 1979, in Houston. Luis’ family includes his parents, who live in San Antonio, two older brothers, and a younger sister. Before moving to San Antonio, Javier Leyva was pastor for El Buen Pastor United Methodist Church in Moody.
Luis enrolled at Texas State Technical College in 1997, after moving to Moody to be near his parents, and was on the President’s List at TSTC for maintaining a 4.0 grade point average. Shortly after moving to the Waco area, Luis served as Youth Director for three area churches, before enrolling in the Para-medicine Studies program at McLennan Community College in 2001. Luis has completed the EMT-Basic, and EMT-Intermediate certificates, and is certified in Advanced Trauma Care/Life Support, and CPR. Luis also worked as an overnight Emergency Technician at Crossroads Critical Care Center from 2001-2003.
When not busy at the Barkley Animal Clinic, Luis enjoys paintball, sports, camping/hiking, fishing, photography, socializing, and caring for his pets: a Bulldog named Rocky, and a California King Snake, named King David. His passion, however, is the ministry – serving the Lord as faithfully as humanly possible. His trademark is saying “Good Morning” to everyone he meets, regardless of the time of day. If you have the opportunity to know him, you will be truly blessed.
